The Greatest Last Finish

Baron Pierre de Coubertin Founder of Modern Olympics

In this inaugural series in conjunction with the 2012 London Summer Olympiad, we will be presenting a 10-part series focusing on Unsung Olympic Heroes, past athletes whose exploits has touched our hearts and teased our imaginations, showcasing the strength and fortitude of the Human Spirit and its desire to push us beyond our physical boundaries.

First off the block in this series, is the “Greatest Last Finish Ever”; Mr. John Stephen Akhwari of Tanzania and a few more inspiring “Non-Winners”! We speak about the spirit of participation in everything that we do in life and to reflect that it is not about the destination, but about the journey to where we want to go.

Each segment will focus on one or two inspiring Olympic Heroes, Nicholas will share their stories and then facilitates learning outcomes from them. There is no one better to host and speak about these stories than Nicholas Chan, as a 10 year volunteer with the National Olympic Academy as Chief Moderator, and now serves as the Vice President of the Courbertin Olympic Education Society of Malaysia, promoting Olympic Education in school and with educators.

“My country did not send me 5,000 miles just to start the race; they sent me 5,000 to finish the race.”
