Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy needed for daily life.
In episode 2, we called on a diabetic patient Mr Chew who was diagnosed with the disease since 1991 to share his predicament and how he has been coping with the condition.Once an active policeman, the illness have shifted him in many ways and made him contemplate the actions and decision made early in his life. Joining us in this segment is Dr Lee Cheng Lok.
Dr Lee practices a new field of medicine, called integrated medication where he combines conventional western medical philosophy with complementary methods such as herbal treatment, diet changes, life style, alternative medicine & nutritional therapy. He has been practicing holistic medical treatment for the past 10 years since he graduated from medical school.
Currently, he is taking “Family Medicine” under the conjoint programs of MAFP/ FRACGP with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is actively in research for his post graduate membership. He is also a member of Academy of Family physicians of Malaysia.
