Georges Bizet’s Carmen by Eat, Sing & Travel People

The Eat, Sing & Travel People (EST) presents Georges Bizet’s Carmen, an Opera in four Acts supported by MAPKL. Artistic Direction by Dr. Michela Bertagnoli and Conducted by Florian Caroubi.

As the opera is staged in a close setting of 200 audiences, the depth of the singers’ warm, rich sound can be appreciated with unparalleled intimacy. You’ve never before experienced opera so up-close and personal.

Featuring one of the finest classical voices of Malaysia’s recent time, this opera showcase the talents of Soprano Ang Mei Foong as Carmen, Tenor Dr. Yap Jin Hin as Don José and many other young talents.

About the Opera

Carmen is an opera in four Acts by the French composer, Georges Bizet. Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on a novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée, wrote the libretto. Set in Seville around the year 1830, the opera deals with the love and jealousy of Don José, who is lured away from his duty as a soldier and his beloved Micaëla by the gypsy factory-girl, Carmen.
