International Women’s Day: Celebrating Motherhood Inspiring Change

In this episode of Do You Know, Kum Gheng speak to Nadine Ghows the co-founder of Gentle Birthing Group who is also a certified Hypnobirthing and Amani Childbirth educator. They discuss on the group’s objective and the reason behind the celebration.

The Gentle Birthing Group Malaysia (together with Ibu Family Resource Group) is organising an event to Celebrate Mothers on International Women’s Day. The role that mothers have in shaping a compassionate society cannot be over-estimated. This is a call for the role of the Mother to be revered and respected and given its rightful lofty place in society .

What better way to celebrate this day than to create awareness around the process that starts the motherhood journey – conception, pregnancy and childbirth.

Childbirth practices today are largely medicalised and a far cry from what is safe according to many experts in the field. C-sections are at an all-time high but many argue they have not contributed to better health for mothers and babies. The GBG would like to take a look at WHY childbirth matters and how mothers and careproviders can work together to ensure safety and health for all MotherBabies in Malaysia.
